For the past 5 to 10 years the world has increasing records of obesity and cancer, consequently most people have started to be more conscious of what they put into their bodies in the fear that they will be unhealthy.


Food Companies are cashing in on that fear by inventing skinny teas, only juice diets, smoothie meal replacements, even our dairy products have gone skinny. And you know what? It’s a double tragedy. Not only are you losing the great taste of natural food but the amazing nutrients and benefits. These companies are tricking you into thinking you’re making the right choice, with clever packaging and great advertisement. Words like natural, organic and healthy have been slapped onto boxes and wrappers of thousands of products in every supermarket worldwide, giving shoppers false hopes that what they are eating is good for them.


Lets talk about dairy products as an example , Skim/Low Fat milks, yogurt’s and creams have a higher selling rate compared to Full/Whole cream products.. BUT WHY? You loose everything that was beneficial in the first place! Your body cant absorb the nutrients without the fat! The vitamin K found naturally in butterfat gets left behind altogether. So that means your not only losing benefits but your also making things worse, Skim and low-fat milk contain powdered milk, which is made with oxidised cholesterol, a carcinogen. Oxidised cholesterol contributes to the build-up of plaque in your arteries. On the other hand, untreated cholesterol in whole milk is an antioxidant.

That’s not all Skimming on full cream can make you fat!! Skim, low fat products can leave you feeling unsatisfied, which leads many people to fill up on less-healthy “non-fat” foods. This is because saturated fats like those found in whole milk trigger the release of the hormone cholecystokinin, which makes you feel full. Skim and low fat dairy products contain more sugar to balance out the lack of fat, and if we haven’t taught you anything yet please learn and live but this: FAT DOEST MAKE YOU FAT, SUGAR DOES!


To avoid being mislead to think you’re making the healthy choices skip the middle section of the supermarket, only buy fresh fruit and veg, when buying diary buy full cream or just don’t buy it at all.


Many food products are promoted as healthy choices and are often advertised as ‘low fat’, ‘sugar free’ or ‘high in fibre’ Unfortunately, just because a product makes one food claim, doesn’t mean it is the best or the healthiest choice. As said above a product labelled as ‘low fat’ for example may still contain a huge amount of calories from sugar. Similarly a product that is claimed to be ‘cholesterol free’ may still be high in fat. Therefore if you are needing to buy boxed and packaged food do your self a favour and read the nutrition labels although those tricky food companies even trap you there by making the product seem healthier than it really is. One such example is an individual tub of yogurt, which list nutritional information for a 100g serve of the product, when in fact a tub is 200g. It is unlikely that many consumers leave half the small container, so the majority of people are consuming twice as many calories, fat and sugar than the label states.
